The Basque Festival is held every year in August. It starts with the traditional Basque games (paletta, jokogarbi, main nue) with teams competing every evening of the week. This is an intergenerational event that centers also around the Basque strengt games. It gives the older teams an opportunity to measure their skills against teams from France and Canada, while the younger ones try to show their "savoir-faire". Sunday afternoon is the biggest moment of the Festival as the population and visitors mix and celebrate around Basque music and cuisine. The celebrations then end with an open-air dance.
